Description
The Cryogenic Semi-Trailer Mechanic is a min to senior technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, repair, inspection, and certification of cryogenic semi-trailers. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of DOT 49 CFR 396 inspection requirements, cryogenic systems, and vacuum-jacketed vessel maintenance. The Level 3 Mechanic serves as a technical lead and mentor to junior mechanics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full DOT Annual Inspections (49 CFR 396) as a Certified DOT Inspector.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and cryogenic systems.
- Oversee tank testing, vacuum testing, pressure relief valve changes, and leak detection.
- Perform or supervise internal/external tank inspections per CGA 341 and customer requirements.
- Review and approve repair documentation and inspection reports for compliance.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics on safety, documentation, and technical procedures.
- Coordinate with engineering or QA staff to address complex trailer issues.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of trailer or cryogenic equipment repair experience.
- Current DOT Inspector Certification (49 CFR 396.19) required.
- Advanced knowledge of brake, suspension, electrical, and cryogenic systems.
- Familiarity with CGA 341, ASME U-Stamp, or similar codes highly desirable.
- CDL A and cryogenic transfer experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Lift 75 lbs, climb, crawl, and operate tools and test equipment in a physically demanding environment.
