Location: Milan Branch, Italy | Division: Trade & Working Capital Sales
VP role focused on managing a defined client cluster and originating traditional and structured Trade & Working Capital solutions, including bespoke structures tailored to client needs.

Trade & Working Capital is part of Global Transaction Banking (GTB), a strategic growth platform within Santander Corporate & Investment Banking, supporting large multinational and domestic corporates with trade finance, working capital, supply chain finance and structured solutions across international markets.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Santander Trade & Working Capital Sales is looking for an experienced Vice President to join the team in Milan. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the commercial development of a defined cluster of large corporate clients, driving growth through the origination, structuring and execution of Trade & Working Capital solutions.
The role requires a strong combination of senior client coverage, business development capabilities and product expertise across both traditional trade finance products and more sophisticated structured working capital solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Origination & Business Development
- Manage and develop senior relationships with a dedicated portfolio of large corporate clients and key decision-makers.
- Originate new business opportunities and drive commercial growth across the Trade & Working Capital product suite.
- Identify client financing, liquidity optimization and supply chain needs, translating them into tailored commercial opportunities.
- Lead strategic dialogue with CFOs, Treasurers, Procurement and Supply Chain executives.
Product Origination & Structuring
- Originate and execute traditional Trade Finance solutions including guarantees, standby letters of credit, documentary letters of credit, import/export financing, receivables finance and payables finance solutions.
- Lead the origination and structuring of more sophisticated Working Capital transactions, including:
- Inventory Financing
- Prepayment Financing
- Distributor Financing
- Structured Receivables Finance
- Supply Chain Finance solutions
- Tailor-made working capital structures designed around specific client needs and business models
- Coordinate the development of bespoke solutions involving multiple internal stakeholders and international Santander platforms.
Portfolio Management & Execution
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of Trade & Working Capital transactions, with responsibility for revenue generation, capital management, level of utilization and client satisfaction.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
- Support transaction execution from origination through implementation and ongoing management.
- Contribute to revenue forecasting, pipeline discipline and commercial planning activities.
Internal Leadership & Coordination
- Act as a senior commercial partner for Coverage Bankers and product teams.
- Coordinate closely with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Product Management and Structuring teams.
- Actively contribute to the development of the Italian Trade & Working Capital franchise.
- Support knowledge sharing and provide guidance to junior team members when required.
- Manage a dedicated team of junior resources supporting origination activities, ensuring effective coordination, prioritization and execution follow-up.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Professional Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in Global Transaction Banking, Trade Finance, Working Capital Solutions, Corporate Banking or Structured Trade & Receivables Finance.
- Demonstrated track record in originating and closing complex Trade & Working Capital transactions.
- Strong experience managing senior relationships within large corporates and multinational groups.
- Proven ability to structure customized financing solutions and lead discussions with senior client decision-makers.
- Solid understanding of credit, risk, legal and operational considerations relevant to structured transactions.
Education
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent.
- MBA, Master in Finance or other postgraduate qualifications considered an advantage.

- Italian: fluent
- English: fluent
- Spanish considered a plus

The successful candidate will be hired as VP within the category Quadro Direttivo, as provided for under the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Credit Sector (CCNL Credito).
Accordingly, the initial gross annual base salary will not lower than the minimum salary applicable under the relevant level of the CCNL Credito. Please consider that the final level of classification and the corresponding remuneration will be determined during the recruitment process, with objective, transparent and gender-neutral criteria, taking into account also the candidate's qualifications, relevant professional experience, skills and the requirements of the position.
