What you'll do...
Role summary:The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Technician supports preventive maintenance programs, leads field teams, and communicates effectively with customers and management. Operating company vehicles and participating in on-call rotations are essential. This position requires adherence to established protocols while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence within facility services.
About the team:
The Facility Services team ensures the efficient operation and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems across Walmart locations. They perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance while coordinating with management and service providers to prioritize tasks effectively. Utilizing technical expertise, the team troubleshoots equipment issues and maintains accurate records and inventory. Committed to integrity, clear communication, and operational excellence, they support Walmart’s mission by creating a dependable environment that consistently delivers quality service and value to customers.
What you'll do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to optimize system performance and extend equipment life.
- Maintain refrigeration units such as racks, walk-ins, and reach-ins, adhering to EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety standards.
- Manage service calls, documentation, and coordinate with external providers as needed.
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration and compliance.
- Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Competence in operating heavy machinery and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Strong communication skills to effectively explain technical issues and collaborate with team members and customers.
- Capability to lead and mentor less-experienced technicians and manage escalated service issues.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
