Job Description:

Your impact in this role:

At South Windsor, the Plant Manager organizes, optimizes and continually improves the operational, production and maintenance activities, considering the Sibelco Values and policies.

The Plant Manager must drive his/her operational organization to maintain and develop the plant guarantee:

  • Zero Harm approach to operational safety.
  • First-class service to the customer.
  • Competitive cost position (cost reduction, increase site yield, better value- products, better processes, product management and production scheduling).
  • Highest standard of industry in terms of processes, quality, environment and legal obligation respect and health and safety.
  • Development of talent, competence and career progression of staff within the area.
  • Implementation of the Operation Excellence principles and tools.


In the role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Strong business acumen with past P&L responsibility a plus
  • Ensures the safety of plant personnel. Leads and supports the safety program and all safety efforts. Conducts or ensures safety training is completed.
  • Manages and directs production operations and functions.
  • Ensures the quality and regulatory compliance of all products manufactured and shipped from the plant while meeting sales customers’ needs and expectations.
  • Identifies and initiates the principles and techniques of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to improve quality, eliminate waste, decrease costs, and improve productivity.
  • Completes budgetary plans and cost control activities and reporting.
  • Active participation in the scheduling and performance meetings.
  • Manage production & maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budgets
  • Directs, oversee and/or assists with all recruiting, training, personnel development, and optimum functioning of the sites in the cluster.
  • Develop supervisors and operators by coaching, training, properly delegating responsibility and emphasizing accountability for assigned responsibilities
  • Audits, solves problems, improves plant operations and facilitates investigating and correcting actions associated with quality and safety events. Trains supervisors in same efforts.
  • Remains calm and focus during times of change and uncertainty, and effectively guiding others through.
  • Rises to the challenge, accepting risk and uncertainly as part of business as usual
  • Is confident to make decisions or move forward, even with incomplete information
  • Maneuvers effectively through complex or uncertain situations
  • Builds on the strength of diversity of teams to efficiently achieve goals

  • Involving the right person in decision making.
  • Draws on appropriate information from a variety of resources to define the problem and make decisions

Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in electrical or mechanical Engineering or equivalent by experience
  • M.B.A., a plus.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a leadership role in industrial manufacturing environment or related industry to Glass Recycling.
  • Experience with turnaround challenges.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking, preferred.
