Your role and responsibilities
In this role, The Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring product and process quality across the assembly line, meeting customer quality standards, and driving continuous improvement through structured problem-solving, process audits, inspections, and compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. This role requires expertise in quality control systems, process validation, and technical knowledge of electrical and switchgear standards.

The role will support for the ABB India Ltd for Electrification Smart Buildings Business to be based at Nelamangala, BANGALORE, India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure product and process quality as per customer requirements, ISO 9001:2015 standards, drawings, PCPs, and defined quality procedures; monitor and improve key quality KPIs.
Inspection & Non-Conformance Management: Conduct visual, dimensional, functional, and pre-dispatch inspections; identify non-conformities, perform RCA, manage UD clearance, customer complaints, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Process Quality & Validation: Maintain and update PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and Work Instructions; conduct process validation, Cp/Cpk capability studies, LPA, poka-yoke audits, and support FPY improvement.
Calibration & Quality Documentation: Ensure timely calibration and upkeep of electrical/mechanical equipment and process instruments; maintain accurate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality reports and records.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction: Review FPY, Final Yield, Rework Yield, IFC, and Customer Complaint PPM; support Kaizen, OPEX/cost-saving initiatives, 5S, and structured problem-solving activities to raise quality and cut process losses.
Qualifications for the role:
Education & Experience: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience in Process Quality within a manufacturing environment.
Industry Exposure: Prior experience in Switchgear, Automobile, Electrical, or similar manufacturing industries, with practical experience in production quality processes.
Quality Management Systems: Good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, Work Instructions, and quality documentation.
Statistical & Technical Skills: Proficiency in SPC, Cp/Cpk capability analysis, Minitab, calibration processes, and Poka-Yoke; basic knowledge of IEC 60898-1, IEC 60947-2, and IEC 61008-1 standards.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Practical skills in RCA, 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone, and DMAIC, with the ability to analyze quality trends, investigate failures, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Systems & Reporting: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP for documentation, reporting, UD clearance, lot tracking, and inventory management; Windchill knowledge.
Communication & Ownership: effective communication and cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, Maintenance, and R&D teams; prepared to support shift work, handle several priorities, and support quality improvement initiatives with accountability
