Overview
As a member of the ODV Corporate and Foundation Relations team, the Program Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and coordination of the operations of the unit in support of university fundraising priorities and academic initiatives. Reporting jointly to a Senior Associate Director and Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, and in coordination with unit colleagues, the Program Manager:
- Leads the CFR operations team, which includes both oversight of clerical and technical (C&T) staff and management of key CFR initiatives with managerial and professional (M&P) staff.
- Works in a highly collegial manner with multiple other fundraising teams at Yale on a wide range of projects, with particular emphasis on projects and awards involving complex research initiatives.
- In consultation with team leaders, oversees a stewardship and donor communications (including acknowledgments, letters of congratulation/condolence, and other communications) program for CFR donors and prospects to ensure timely and accurate reporting, leadership outreach, and other communications as directed.
- Provides expert oversight, support, and implementation for various written materials, including research reports for CFR donors and prospects, briefings, agendas, biographies, and other documents involving academic and other complex content.
- Manages and directs processing of CFR contributions designated as gifts and grants. Supports gift settlement processes by overseeing payment receipt process for corporate and foundation donors, including interacting with donor payment portals, accounts receivable systems, and other similar mechanisms. Engages in complex problem solving to achieve objectives.
- Coordinates work with the Office of Sponsored Projects and other teams as required.
- Interacts with corporations and foundation prospects as appropriate. May serve as primary relationship manager for select cases requiring complex stewardship, revenue collection/settlement, or internal coordination with development colleagues.
- Directs business processes and unit information management and oversees best practices to ensure the accurate and timely recording of CFR fundraising activities, including records management, data preservation, and revenue reporting.
- Engages and strategizes with colleagues from CFR, other fundraising teams and leadership on complex fundraising steps, such as site visits, internal client meetings, or other fundraising needs.
- Undertakes special unit projects at the direction of the University Director, CFR, and other fundraisers within CFR.

Required Skills and Abilities
1. Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to train and coach staff with varying experience and expertise. Ability to interact in a professional manner with senior administrators and donors.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication and editorial skills, quantitative skills, and attention to detail. Strong information management and computer skills and demonstrated proficiency using database systems and AI to produce reports and other analysis. Cover letter required with application.

Preferred Skills and Abilities
1. Experience in a University setting or with development work.
2. Familiarity with Yale.
3. Experience working directly with senior executives, faculty, or administrators.
4. Ability to design, implement, and document business, information, and report management processes and policies.
5. Experience in supervising and mentoring staff. Advanced degree desirable.

Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of mission, goals, and objectives. Develops, as needed, metrics to identify and measure success. 3. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures. Innovates and develops best practices in line with changing unit and departmental needs. Serves as a resource to the unit director and others, as needed, in the work of the team. 4. Hires and supervises staff, overseeing workflow and ensuring equal distribution and timely completion of work. Meets regularly with direct reports and provides feedback and conducts reviews. Evaluates team productivity and makes necessary adjustments. 5. Sets and maintains quality standards for all materials provided by and for the unit. Devises and implements plans for communications with stakeholders and others. 6. May participate in training of new staff to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the resources and procedures within the unit. 7. May hire and directly supervises unit’s student employees, including training and coordination of project assignments. 8. Keeps abreast of University information, disseminating to team members as appropriate. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
