What you’ll be doing...

As a Distinguished Engineer- Systems Architecture part of the Enterprise Network team within the Business Product Engineering organization you will be responsible for defining network architectures and driving innovation in support of enterprise and inbuilding networks. The Distinguished Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of technologies in support of enterprise use-case solutions on private and public wireless networks (e.g., private breakout [PBO], dynamic network slicing). 

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to: 

•  Contributing to technology roadmapping, intellectual property ideation, and defining standardized deployment architectures across emerging focus areas. 
• Researching industry trends and work with vendors and partners to recommend network technologies and solutions that will drive business for enterprises. 
• Working  across technology industry partners, network and relevant technology vendor providers, and system integrators to drive new architectures in support of products in clear alignment with product teams and direct customer engagements. 
• Leading discussions across network teams (including planning, engineering, operations) to define and align on these architectures through network project processes ensuring to meet the highest standard of quality. 
• Providing recommendations on which solutions and deployment technology architecture Verizon should pursue and build an infrastructure for testing, incubation and connectivity with internal and external partners . 
• Designing and engineering the infrastructure for trial scenarios, as well as managing the progression and development of HW and SW in alignment with product roadmaps and business product needs.
• Translating customer requirements and challenges to technology solutions and working with leadership and across organizations in network and business to develop these solutions towards cohesive, monetizable solutions and drive continuous product innovation and revenue growth.

What we’re looking for...

The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background in end-to-end wireless architectures (4G/5G RAN and Core, Private Wireless Networks, network slicing). A strong knowledge of 3GPP standards both existing and upcoming with the ability to translate them to vendor requirements. You bring a track record of innovation—whether through defining architecture, authoring IP/patents, or operationalizing emerging capabilities.

You will possess the strategic acumen to develop key action plans, establish architectural baselines, and drive cross-functional alignment through ambiguity and fast-changing priorities. You are able to work in high-stakes deployment environments and serve as a mentor and technical authority to elevate peers and cross functional network teams. You are able to influence stakeholders and decision makers on technical recommended directions based on factual evidence from research and testing.

Travel up to 25% is expected.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
• Experience in wireless networking, network architecture, or systems integration.
• Experience in  large-scale network architecture or integration projects, 4G/5G core networks, MEC, IP routing, RF design, and edge/private network deployments.
• Understanding of end-to-end wireless architectures, and enterprise connectivity solutions.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% or less of the time. 

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree  in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Private Wireless Networks (PWN), portable/mobile network kits, or rapid-deployment network infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Private Networks, Inbuilding network solutions, Private Breakout (PBO), network slicing. 
• Experience in building strong relationships with stakeholders, technical partners, technology vendors, and cross-functional leadership.
• Possess excellent verbal  and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders.
• Self-motivated leadership with a track record of thriving in high-ambiguity environments.
• Proven track record of innovation, patent filings, or defining scalable, productized technical standards.
• Possess mentoring and technical leadership skills to scale team capabilities and field operations expertise.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $137,000.00 - $263,000.00.
