Production Supervisor

Description

The Production Supervisor will manage the day-to-day shop floor activities of the production operation with a goal of optimizing output and quality of the plant. The Supervisor provides the daily management of shop floor personnel, understands the overall picture of the company.  This is a 1st Shift salaried position. 

THE WHAT

What will you be doing? 

• Ensures a safe working environment through constant review of company’s safety policies, requiring employees to wear their Personal Protective Equipment, completing incident reports, and making continuous improvements. Ensures all safety rules, regulations and programs are followed by staff. Audits and addresses all departmental safety hazards, equipment and guarding malfunctions, and personal safety violations.    
• Ensures quality parts are being made per customer specifications and shipping deadlines.
• Supervises employees and coordinates employee activities including; performance management, attendance, and training and development. 
• Assists in the hiring and disciplinary process.
• Monitors efficiencies and allocates resources required to run the production areas. Determines the best operating processes and creates work instructions.
• Works closely and collaborates with the following departments: Quality, Scheduling, Maintenance, Tool Room, Engineering, Shipping and Customer Service. 
• Have a strong presence on the shop floor offering support and coaching to employees.

Requirements

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related preferred.  The Production Supervisor must have strong leadership and manufacturing experience in a shop environment.

Skills and competencies: Basic understanding of Machining and processing of manufactured parts in a Job shop setting. Basic understanding of ERP systems and Scheduling concepts. Understanding of Manufacturing measurements that pertain to earned hours and how it drives productivity in the shop.
