The Opportunity 

FTE .25, 1 Day per Week

 As an EEG Technologist at COPA, you’ll play an important role in expanding pediatric neurology services and providing specialized diagnostic care for children and adolescents. You’ll independently perform routine EEG studies, operate diagnostic equipment, and produce high-quality recordings that help physicians evaluate and diagnose neurological conditions. You’ll work closely with our Pediatric Neurologist and clinical team while managing the day-to-day technical operations of the EEG service. This role combines technical expertise with a compassionate, child- and family-centered approach to help patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their testing experience.  The Job 

• Perform EEG studies: Prepare pediatric patients for testing, review orders and patient histories, apply electrodes using the International 10–20 System, and conduct routine EEG studies. 
• Monitor and troubleshoot: Operate and calibrate EEG equipment, monitor patients and recordings, identify artifacts, troubleshoot technical issues, and recognize events requiring clinical attention. 
• Support patient and family experience: Explain procedures in age-appropriate language, help children feel comfortable, and provide compassionate, professional care to patients and caregivers. 
• Maintain clinical quality and operations: Complete accurate technical documentation, maintain equipment and testing areas, manage supplies, and oversee daily EEG workflow. 
• Collaborate and improve services: Work with the Pediatric Neurologist and clinical team, contribute to protocol and workflow improvements, and support training and mentoring as the EEG program grows.

Requirements

Experience and Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a formal EEG, Electroeurodiagnostic (END), or Neurodiagnostic Technology training program preferred.
• Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology/END program preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct EEG experience preferred; candidates completing an accredited END/Neurodiagnostic Technology program or with equivalent clinical experience will also be considered.
• Experience performing EEGs with pediatric patients (infants, children, and adolescents) preferred; COPA will provide pediatric-specific training and mentorship to technologists with strong general EEG experience. 
• Current BLS/CPR certification required. ABRET Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) credential preferred at hire; candidates without current certification must obtain the R. EEG T. credential within 24 months of hire.
• Demonstrated proficiency with the International 10–20 Electrode Placement System, EEG equipment operation, artifact recognition, technical troubleshooting, patient monitoring, and accurate clinical/technical documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level in person, over the telephone or through use of other required technology. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Frequent repetitive motion includes computer keyboard use, reaching with hands and arms, and walking. Occasional lifting and or moving up to 30 pounds and on rare occasion up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include viewing computer monitor for long periods of time, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. 

Working Conditions

• Work inside in a general medical office setting with ergonomically configured equipment.
• The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors. The employee has been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with specification for preventing contact with the above materials. 
• Travel between COPA clinics, business office, and lab as required.
