Job Summary
As the Data Engineering Intern, you will write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks.Job Description
We are looking for a Data Engineering Intern. This role is a full-time internship and is remote. This internship is a full-time opportunity requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week and will run from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available during core business hours for the entire 9-week duration of the program. Please note that all work must be performed within the United States.
What You'll Do
Write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks
Develop data transformations using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and SQL
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions
Create and optimize Databricks jobs to process data at scale
Write unit tests and validation logic to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability
Document code, workflows, and technical decisions to support team knowledge sharing
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering practices
Troubleshoot data issues and optimize pipeline performance
Learn and apply best practices for building production-grade data platforms
What You'll Need
Required:
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher
Strong Python programming skills with ability to write clean, maintainable code
Understanding of SQL and relational data concepts
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and ask for help when needed
Preferred:
Experience with Apache Spark or PySpark
Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline design
Exposure to Databricks, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or similar data engineering tools
Familiarity with SQL notebooks or Jupyter notebooks
Experience with testing frameworks or CI/CD concepts
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time, with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$20 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
