Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the Planning team in coordinating and monitoring production activities to ensure customer requirements and production schedules are achieved. The role involves production planning, order monitoring, material availability, ERP system updates, and coordination with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and other relevant departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining daily/weekly production plans according to customer demand and production capacity.
- Monitor production orders and ensure jobs are released and completed according to the planned schedule.
- Follow up on production progress and highlight delays, shortages, or potential delivery risks to the Planner/Supervisor.
- Check material availability and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure materials are available for production.
- Monitor MRP/ERP system information, production orders, planned orders, and inventory status.
- Update production planning data and ensure relevant transactions are accurately recorded in the system.
- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering teams regarding production requirements and priorities.
- Assist in monitoring Work in Progress (WIP) and outstanding production orders.
- Follow up on urgent orders, rescheduling requirements, and changes to production priorities.
- Prepare and maintain planning reports, production schedules, and status updates.
- Assist in tracking customer orders and ensuring committed delivery dates are achieved.
- Support the Planner in identifying production constraints and escalating issues when necessary.
- Maintain proper documentation and records related to production planning activities.
- Assist in monitoring subcontracting activities and follow up on outstanding jobs where required.
- Support continuous improvement activities related to planning processes, production flow, inventory, and delivery performance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Job Requirements
Education
- Minimum Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment will have an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in Production Planning, Material Planning, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related functions is preferred.
- Experience in a machining/manufacturing environment will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of production planning and scheduling.
- Basic knowledge of MRP, inventory management, production orders, and material availability.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or other manufacturing ERP systems is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, filtering, sorting, and data management.
- Able to analyse production status and identify potential delays or shortages.
- Able to understand basic manufacturing processes and workflow.
