Job Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Fairfield University seeks applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish, with an emphasis in Latin American studies and culture, to begin in the fall of 2027, pending final budget approval. Teaching responsibilities include four classes per semester (with a maximum of three preparations). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses at all levels of our Spanish undergraduate curriculum, including elementary and intermediate-level courses.
Candidates should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the university level. Previous experience having coordinated Spanish language programs at the undergraduate level will be greatly valued. We seek candidates who will contribute to the University's core curriculum priorities of writing across the curriculum, social justice, and interdisciplinarity. The successful candidate should expect to participate in department, college and university-wide service, and may contribute to other interdisciplinary programs in the Meditz College of Arts and Sciences.

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures consists of 15 full-time faculty members, teaching a dynamic curriculum and engaged in exciting faculty research representing a range of fields, such as peninsular and Latin American literature and cinema, cultural studies, linguistics, translation, or Spanish for specific purposes.

Qualifications: PhD in Spanish required by time of appointment.
