Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining company facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure safe, efficient operations. This position performs inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while supporting customer service, safety, and operational excellence across the cooperative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.) 

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on company facilities, equipment, and grounds.
• Maintain and repair building systems, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and mechanical components.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and general repair work as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure safe operation.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, welders, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with transportation-related maintenance and support activities.
• Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and operational needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities.
• Identify and report safety hazards, equipment concerns, and maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Complete required reports, inspections, and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Work closely with employees across departments to support branch and company goals.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, contractors, and management.
• Promote a positive team environment through cooperation, professionalism, and shared responsibility.
• Travel between company locations as needed to perform maintenance and support operational needs.
• Assist with facility improvement projects and special assignments as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of maintenance, mechanical, agricultural, construction, industrial, or related experience preferred.
• Agricultural, grain, fuel, energy, or cooperative industry experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills required. 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

 Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving mechanical equipment.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
