Role summary:
As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving full lifecycle software development and cloud-native architecture implementation. About the team:
The team oversees Ecommerce Fulfillment, ensuring efficient grocery picking and packaging for delivery and pickup. They maintain platform stability through engineering and site reliability practices, including incident response and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include managing production runbooks, dashboards, and integrating alerts with incident management systems. Leveraging cloud-native architecture, API design, and data-driven decision making, the team delivers reliable, scalable fulfillment operations across multiple business units. Their focus is on operational excellence and seamless store-related processes, supporting both Sam’s Club and Walmart with innovative, robust technology solutions that enhance fulfillment performance and customer satisfaction.
What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities.
• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
• Utilize data-driven approaches to define success metrics and optimize development processes.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance code quality, tools, and engineering productivity.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform design and development.
• Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
• Ability to conduct thorough design reviews and apply data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
• Skilled in debugging, remedial action, and software prototyping to enhance product quality and innovation.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and requirements analysis to translate complex user needs into technical solutions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions to promote engineering excellence and sustainability.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
