Finance Officer

Job Summary

Our client in the Gold Mining & Precious Metals industry is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Finance Officer to support its financial management, accounting, reporting, compliance, and internal control activities in Dar es Salaam.

The successful candidate will support the preparation of financial statements and management reports, maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations, assist with budgeting and expenditure monitoring, process payments, support statutory and tax compliance, and provide timely financial information to management. The role requires strong attention to detail, integrity, analytical capability, and the ability to maintain accurate financial documentation across assigned business activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and periodic reports in accordance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, tax filings, ledgers, and reconciliations for all business units assigned.
• Assist in monitoring budgets, expenditure controls, and variance analysis to support sound financial planning.
• Process payments, review supporting documentation, and ensure compliance with internal approval procedures.
• Assist in statutory compliance processes, including tax filings, regulatory submissions, and audit support.
• Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions and ensure secure record-keeping.
• Participate in strengthening internal controls and identifying areas that require improvement.
• Support procurement and inventory finance processes, including verification of supplier invoices and cost allocations.
• Provide regular financial updates to the CFO and contribute to decisionmaking processes through timely analysis.
• Undertake any additional finance-related duties assigned by Management in line with operational needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field.
• Experience with a Big Four firm is highly desirable.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, financial reporting, or a related role.
• Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and ledger management.
• Experience supporting preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
• Knowledge of budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and variance analysis.
• Understanding of Tanzanian tax and statutory compliance processes will be an advantage.
• Experience processing payments and reviewing financial supporting documentation.
• Good understanding of financial internal controls and record management.
• Experience supporting procurement, supplier invoice verification, inventory finance, or cost allocation will be advantageous.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics when handling financial information.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems will be an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and other departments.
