The Opportunity
SMG ABA LLC is hiring an onsite Accounting Manager - M&A (Senior Level) to lead our mergers & acquisitions efforts as we expand this capability. This role exists to keep transactions moving—bringing structure, clarity, and technical accounting/tax insight from early diligence through integration.
Key responsibilities:
- Own M&A deal execution: manage timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables end-to-end
- Coordinate due diligence and virtual data rooms; analyze financials, tax returns, and deal risks
- Apply GAAP and IRC structuring knowledge (asset vs. stock) including revenue recognition and QoE support
- Plan and drive post-merger integration (systems, reporting, payroll/workflows)
- Lead communication with partners and external advisors; develop staff and train others in QuickBooks
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance; CPA/CMA (or in progress)
- 5–7 years in corporate/public accounting with M&A exposure
- Advanced Excel/Microsoft Office; strong project management and communication
If you’re ready to spearhead Accounting Manager - M&A work with accountability and momentum, apply today.
Your Typical Day
As the Accounting Manager - M&A, your day starts onsite at 300 Corporate Plaza in Islandia, aligning priorities and scanning deal calendars for time-sensitive items. During active transactions, you’ll spend focused blocks moving between data-room requests, calls with attorneys/bankers, and quick turnarounds for partner review—then resetting the plan as new information lands.
When deal flow is lighter, you’ll shift into internal firm operations support, tightening processes and keeping documentation deal-ready. Expect a steady cadence of stakeholder updates, careful follow-ups, and clear written summaries.
Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM–5:30 PM, with extended hours during M&A and tax busy seasons, occasional weekends as deadlines demand, and occasional remote flexibility once fully integrated.
