Credit Risk Officer - Senior Assistant Vice President

About this role:

Wells Fargo Bank International (WFBI) is seeking a Credit Portfolio Consultant to join our Dublin-based Risk team. This is an exciting opportunity for a credit professional looking to expand their expertise across multiple lines of business, industries, and European markets while building a long-term career within a leading global financial institution.

Based in Dublin, WFBI serves clients across the European Union and European Economic Area, offering exposure to a diverse range of customers, products, and jurisdictions. In this role, you will work closely with Credit, Banking, Risk, and senior leadership teams, providing independent credit risk analysis and oversight across portfolios spanning Corporate Banking, Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), and Capital Finance.

You will evaluate credit proposals, support Credit Committee recommendations, and contribute to sound credit decision-making within the Credit Decisioning Framework and Delegated Approval Authority. In addition, you will monitor portfolio exposures and help ensure alignment with Wells Fargo's risk appetite, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will:

• Lead or participate in the assessment of credit proposals and provide independent risk analysis and recommendations to Credit Committee across multiple Lines of Business.

• Develop expertise in a diverse portfolio spanning different industries, client segments, and geographies across Europe.

• Evaluate credit requests and support informed credit decisions within the Credit Decisioning Framework and Delegated Credit Approval Authority.

• Monitor and oversee portfolio exposures, ensuring alignment with WFBI, Wells Fargo, and regulatory requirements.

• Identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities within the portfolio and provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.

• Partner with relationship managers, portfolio managers, risk teams, and senior leaders to support sound credit decisions and risk management practices.

• Ensure credit proposals align with the Board-approved Credit Strategy and risk appetite framework.

• Interface with internal and external auditors, Risk Asset Review, and regulators to support robust governance and risk oversight.

• Contribute to reporting provided to Senior Management, Credit Committee, Risk Committee, Board Committees, and regulatory bodies.

• Build a broad understanding of the regulatory, economic, and market factors impacting credit portfolios across multiple European jurisdictions.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree educated (or equivalent).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in developing expertise across multiple business sectors and jurisdictions.

• Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present recommendations and influence stakeholders.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Professional maturity, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to learning and development.

• Comfortable working independently while collaborating across international teams.

• Ability to operate effectively within a large, multicultural organisation.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other relevant analytical tools.

Desired Attributes:

• Experience in credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, or risk management within financial services.

• Interest in working across different sectors, products, and geographic markets.

• Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to continuously learn and develop within a global banking environment.

• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and credit fundamentals.
