Job Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer designs, implements, secures, and supports enterprise infrastructure across corporate and manufacturing locations. This role serves as a technical lead for server, virtualization, cloud, storage, backup, and network services; drives infrastructure lifecycle improvements; resolves complex incidents; and ensures the availability, performance, integrity, and recoverability of systems supporting corporate and manufacturing plants operations. Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for complex server, virtualization, cloud, storage, backup, and network incidents; performs root-cause analysis and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Answer questions and resolve issues for clients in person, via telephone, or from remote locations
- Provides advanced technical guidance, documentation, training, and mentoring to Help Desk personnel, infrastructure team members, and designated plant contacts; serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Administers enterprise endpoint management, security patching, software deployment, configuration compliance, and reporting for desktops, laptops, and manufacturing-floor systems using the organization’s approved management platforms.
- Assist other IT teams with both support and project matters
- Ensures the integrity and recoverability of corporate and manufacturing systems by administering Veeam backup services, monitoring and reporting backup results, resolving failures, coordinating off-site media or immutable storage, and regularly validating recovery procedures for corporate and plant environments.
- Analyzes system logs and identifies/reports potential issues with network and computer systems
- Monitors and maintains UPS systems (battery backup power supply) at corporate and plants
- Responsible for creating and maintaining computer images, (end-user desktop/laptops, various systems used on the manufacturing floor) and deploying to computers as needed using approved system (Kace K2000).
- Responsible for scoping computer hardware needed for plant projects
- Designs, administers, monitors, and optimizes virtualized server environments, including host configuration, clustering, capacity management, performance tuning, high availability, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.
- Participates in projects as required
- Participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation as a senior escalation resource for business-critical infrastructure incidents affecting corporate and manufacturing operations.
- Advanced proficiency in enterprise networking, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, VMware virtualization, failover clustering, storage, backup and recovery, and infrastructure monitoring technologies.
EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Deep knowledge of Windows operating systems
- 5 years of experience in server administration
- 5 years of networking experience
- Azure experience
- VMware experience
- VEEAM experience preferred
- Endpoint management experience preferred
- Linux experience preferred
- Information security experience/exposure preferred
- Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both in a team setting and autonomously
- Microsoft/server/networking certifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or technical training in related areas
- Hybrid work environment
