Job Description Summary
The Technical Lead serves as the primary technical authority for Industrial Controls, providing high-level design oversight and expert-level mentorship to the engineering organization. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, establishing best-in-class standards, and ensuring the professional growth of the controls engineering team. By balancing hands-on technical architecture with active mentorship, the Lead ensures the business maintains a high-performing, agile, and standardized automation ecosystem.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Technical Stewardship & Oversight: Serve as the final technical authority on control system architecture. Review and approve complex PLC/HMI designs, electrical schematics, and vision system integrations to ensure they meet global GE Vernova performance and safety standards.
Engineering Mentorship & Development: Actively coach and mentor staff engineers. Identify technical skill gaps within the team and develop training initiatives to elevate the collective team capability in areas like advanced logic, networking, and system diagnostics.
Complex Troubleshooting Leadership: Lead high-stakes root-cause analysis sessions for critical production failures. Develop the team’s diagnostic abilities by fostering a structured problem-solving culture (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma methodology) rather than providing immediate fixes.
Standardization & Knowledge Management: Define and document plant-wide automation standards. Lead the curation of a "Technical Library" of best practices, templates, and lessons learned to ensure knowledge is transferred effectively and institutionalized across the function.
Architectural Strategy: Evaluate emerging automation technologies (AI/ML in vision, advanced robotics, predictive diagnostics). Formulate the technical roadmap for equipment upgrades, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of industrial capability.
Cross-Functional Technical Liaison: Act as the bridge between technical execution and management strategy. Translates complex technical challenges into business-impact reports for site leadership.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
Deep Subject Matter Expertise: Master-level proficiency in PLC/HMI platforms, industrial communication protocols, and safety logic
Mentorship Track Record: Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams or guiding senior-level professionals toward career growth and technical autonomy
Analytical Rigor: Ability to dissect complex, multi-system failures and teach the underlying logic to others
