What You'll Be Doing
This is an advanced professional, administrative, and managerial position that is responsible for complex professional work on a variety of engineering review tasks in the Department of Community Development. The primary focus is providing oversight of engineering staff that review public and private land development applications for adherence to adopted design and construction standards. The Deputy Director – Engineering provides direct supervision to two Senior Project Managers and one Engineering Analyst, and serves as Director on an as needed basis. The position also manages major initiatives for the Town such as floodplain program administration, comprehensive updates to engineering standards, and erosion and stormwater management permits.

- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in land development or site plan work or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience or progressively responsible management experience
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Master’s degree in engineering, planning, or related field
- Active membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers
- Five (5) years of supervisory and/or management experience
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
