Description
- Trains administrative staff on financial system invoice and purchase card processing and accounts payable reporting.
- Reviews and approves invoices, P Card purchases and requisitions through workflow in our financial software.
- Processes weekly accounts payable payments and wires.
- Prepares and posts online and in-person revenue payments and journal entries for various departments.
- Records monthly and daily ad valorem, motor fuels, and sales taxes.
- Reconciles the utility receivable and customer deposits for the Electric Fund.
- Reconciles various bank statements; researches and resolves discrepancies; posts interest and bank fees.
- Performs the monthly and annual sales tax reconciliation.
- Prepares and submits the monthly motor fuel tax report to the NC Department of Revenue
- Reviews requisitions and inputs requests for Purchase Orders from all departments; inputs budget amendments as needed.
- Prepares monthly spreadsheets and schedules for the Annual Audit.
- Works with Assistant Finance Director to prepare schedules for Annual Budget.
- Works with Administrative Assistants to create and maintain vendor files including COIs and W-9’s to have information to prepare and file annual 1099s for service and land purchases.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting or related field and three years of experience in accounting, budgeting or finance. Or a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills to complete the essential functions and job responsibilities of this position.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.This position’s physical requirements involve sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities may be required: fingering, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and/or visual acuity.
Work has no exposure to environmental conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office with computer printers, light traffic).
