Senior Service Sales Specialist - SSA

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive profitable service growth across ABB's Motion Service Business in Sub-Saharan Africa. You will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing service opportunities across key industrial sectors while strengthening ABB's presence within both established and emerging markets.

Working closely with customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders, you will focus on expanding ABB's Installed Base (IB) penetration, promoting the full range of service offerings, and delivering value-added solutions that improve customer performance and reliability.

This role is contributing to the Motion Service Business Area – Drives & Motors across Sub-Saharan Africa.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Driving service sales growth across assigned Sub-Saharan African countries through proactive customer engagement and business development activities.

• Expanding Installed Base (IB) penetration by promoting upgrades, retrofits, modernization solutions, maintenance agreements, and digital service offerings.

• Developing and executing sales strategies to achieve revenue growth and market share objectives within the region.

• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through market intelligence, industry trends, customer insights, and competitive analysis.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key focus on End-users and assist with identifying suitable channel partners.

• Collaborating with local and regional teams to deliver customer-focused service solutions and ensure seamless customer experience.

• Utilizing CRM tools to manage sales pipelines, forecasts, customer engagement activities, and opportunity tracking.

• Representing ABB at customer meetings, industry events, trade exhibitions, conferences, and networking forums across the region.

• Negotiating and securing service agreements and service-related projects that contribute to sustainable business growth.

• Supporting the development and implementation of strategic account plans for key regional customers.

Qualifications for the role

• Minimum 5 years' experience in service sales, solution selling, value-based selling, or business development within an industrial or engineering environment.

• Proven experience selling technical solutions and services within industrial markets across Sub-Saharan Africa.

• Strong exposure to one or more of the following industries: Mining, Oil & Gas, Cement, Minerals, Metals, Utilities, or Heavy Industry.

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related technical discipline.

• Demonstrated success in developing business opportunities across multiple African countries and diverse cultural environments.

• Experience working with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or equivalent sales management tools.

• Excellent commercial acumen with strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

• A qualification in Business, Sales, or Marketing will be advantageous.

• Fluent in English and either French or Portuguese (written and spoken).

• Strong understanding of regional market dynamics and customer expectations within Africa.

• Valid driver's license and passport required.
