Senior Network Administrator

Our client, Enemalta plc, is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Network Administrator within their IT function to support their growth. The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity and efficiency of the operations of the in-house network infrastructure that supports core organisational functions and will be accountable for ensuring continuous monitoring, maintenance, support and optimisation of all network devices and infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Managing, configuring, and maintaining the company’s internal network and related infrastructure (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, telephony, ISP connections).
• Designing, implementing, and supporting secure, resilient network architectures (LAN and WAN), which includes routers, switches, firewalls, telephony, access point, ISP connections (MPLS, IP-VPN, Lease line, VDSL, ADSL), with minimal business disruption.
• Designing, implementing and maintaining ICT network security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability assessments, and failover solutions.
• Protecting ICT assets by enforcing security policies, standards, and regulatory compliance, and by conducting risk and security assessments.
• Defining and performing routine maintenance of the datacentre disaster recovery plans with regular review to keep the corporate standard requirements in term of SLA. Developing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and backup plans, including replication, restore drills, and periodic disaster recovery testing.
• Monitoring, investigating, and responding to information security incidents, ensuring proper escalation and documentation.
• Performing audits, patch management, and controls on network security systems.
• Creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and security awareness initiatives.
• Evaluating new technologies to improve network performance, reliability, and resilience, and providing recommendations.
• Providing technical guidance and support for ICT projects and teams, and performing other duties as assigned by ICT management.

 

Education and Experience:

• In possession of a recognised undergraduate Diploma at MQF Level 5 (subject to a minimum of 60 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) or higher in Computing Studies or an ICT related field; AND A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a clerical and administrative role, two (2) years of which must be working directly within Networks Administration. OR
• In possession of a recognised undergraduate Diploma at MQF Level 4 (subject to a minimum of 120 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Computing Studies or an ICT related field; AND A minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in a clerical and administrative role, two (2) years of which must be working directly within Networks Administration. OR
• In possession of one (1) Advanced Level Certificate (which must be in any of the following subjects: Accounting or Maltese or English or Mathematics or Economics or Computing or Information Technology or Marketing or Physics) with a mark which is at least Grade D OR in possession of the Advanced ECDL Certificate; AND A minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in a clerical and administrative role, two (2) years of which working directly within Networks Administration. OR
• In possession of six (6) Ordinary Level Certificates (which must include two (2) of the following subjects: Accounting or Business Studies or Computing or Economics or Maltese or English or Mathematics or Physics or Engineering Technology or Information Technology. This can also be the ECDL Certificate) with a mark which is at least Grade 5 in the case of SEC examinations or Grade C in the case of Edexcel (London) examinations; AND A minimum of twelve (12) years of work experience in a clerical and administrative role, two (2) years of which working directly within Networks Administration. OR
• In possession of four (4) Ordinary Level Certificates (which must include two (2) of the following subjects: Accounting or Business Studies or Computing or Economics or Maltese or English or Mathematics or Physics or Engineering Technology or Information Technology. This can also be the ECDL Certificate) with a mark which is at least Grade 5 in the case of SEC examinations or Grade C in the case of Edexcel (London) examinations; AND A minimum of fourteen (14) years of work experience in a clerical and administrative role, two (2) years of which working directly within Networks Administration.

 

Other Requirements:

• Knowledge and experience with fibre-optic technology is required for this role.
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, DHCP, DNS, routing, NAT, Layer 3 switching, monitoring software, network security and firewall concepts is essential.
• Expertise in Security Software/Framework, risk assessment tools, technologies and methods is critical.
• Knowledge of Cisco equipment, Checkpoint, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), EIGRP, HSRP, OSPF, VLANs, VTP, VPNs - GRE / IPSec and inter-Vlan routing on Layer-3 switches is considered an asset.
