Description

We are seeking a Trader as part of our Trading Department Team at our Norfolk, VA wealth management firm. The candidate will be part of small team with a high level of responsibility in contributing to the future growth of the firm. This role provides a unique chance to be involved in various aspects of our investment activities, going beyond a typical execution trading position.  

In this position you will:

• Provide support to the Trading Department, as well as the Portfolio Managers
• Be responsible for the trading and oversight of client portfolios, with a focus on fixed income securities
• Contribute to our investment process through trade execution, operations, idea generation, and with an understanding of the financial markets.
• Monitor performance and make adjustments as needed to optimize client portfolios
• Effectively and proactively manage clients’ fixed income portfolios
• Support equity and fixed income trading efforts
• Regularly review client accounts to ensure alignment with client objectives and goals
• Present in firm meetings on performance, portfolio positioning, and market commentary 
• Support the firm’s Investment Committee across various initiatives as directed
• Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent
• 1 to 5 years of work experience in an investment related role
• CFA candidates preferred
• Ability to work well within a team and on a self-directed basis
• Capable of working well under pressure, organizing and managing multiple priorities in a high-performing environment where time management and attention to detail are critical 
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
• Strong working knowledge of Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, or similar financial aggregator preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
