The Role
As a Senior Associate Engineer – Roads & Highways, you will be a key technical and client leader within our North Queensland team. You will drive the successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects, lead high-performing teams and play a significant role in shaping the growth and future direction of the Roads & Highways business. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic pursuits while remaining actively involved in complex project delivery.
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical leadership across major roads and highways projects.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and oversee project performance.
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Provide strategic input into project pursuits and market growth initiatives.
- Drive quality, safety and commercial outcomes across project portfolios.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams across the region.
- Represent SMEC as a trusted industry leader and technical advisor.
About You
You are a respected engineering professional with a strong industry profile and a proven ability to lead teams, projects and client relationships. You balance technical excellence with commercial acumen and enjoy helping others succeed.
You will bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- 12-15 years’ experience delivering major road and transport infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated leadership of project teams and technical specialists.
- Strong business development and client engagement experience.
- Proven commercial, project management and risk management capability.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- An established industry network within Queensland.
- RPEQ registration and Chartered Engineer status.
