Position Summary: The Director of Programs (DPr) is responsible for the development, direction, implementation, sustainability, and outcomes for Hope House Colorado (HHC) Programs. The DPr assesses needs, designs and strengthens programs, measures and evaluates effectiveness, and develops and manages the HHC Program budget and ELC Income. The DPr is responsible for overseeing the volunteer program, ensuring the organization's volunteer needs and goals are met. This role also directly oversees partnerships and leads program managers in growing partnerships to effectively serve teen moms. This role is responsible in maintaining an environment that attracts and retains high-level, professional program management staff, and leading and coaching that staff to effectively meet the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. The DPr is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and informs decision-making.


What you'll be doing:

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing and implementing the 3-year Vision Traction Organizer (VTO). Participates in annual and quarterly planning days
  • Represents the Program Department to the Board of Directors
  • Responsible for hiring, training, LMA of Program Team employees, specifically Program Manager positions and Volunteer Coordinator
  • Leads, coaches & directs the Program Team in meeting annual program goals
  • Develop staff, strengthen teams, and maintain a professional environment that attracts, retains, and motivates top quality employees
  • Collaborate with the HHC Development Team to support transformational giving
  • Create a culture within the Program Team that exemplifies Hope House Core Values 
  • Promote the values of HHC throughout the organization and external relationships

Program Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct HHC’s Empower, Housing Support and Early Childhood Education Programs
  • Provide strategic direction for the program team to meet teen mom self-sufficiency goals and ELC and ELSA child goals
  • Develop, revise, implement and monitor HHC Program processes and evaluate HHC Program outcomes using a quality data system (Apricot)
  • Provide program goals, data and feedback on grant applications
  • Represent HHC in the community through stakeholder meetings (e.g. EPIC Policy Committee, Arvada Chamber’s Childcare Council, Teen Parent Collaborative) 
  • Generate and sustain a community atmosphere that attracts and retains teen moms
  • Maintain knowledge and relevance regarding significant developments and trends in our field, learning and incorporating best practices and evidence-based practices
  • Maintain the integrity of the HHC Program database (Apricot), developing the database as needed and confirming established processes are followed to ensure the database holds consistently current and accurate information
  • Enhance the efficiency and productivity of Programs' communication procedures and processes as needed
  • Ensure HHC Program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies

Partnership 

  • Lead and direct Program Managers in maintaining high-level relationships with nonprofit partners to build awareness of the services and programs provided by HHC, and to utilize services offered by those partners to remove barriers to self-sufficiency for HHC teen moms, ideally leading to Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) that identify partnership expectations
  • Oversee Program Managers in facilitating relationships between partnership points of contact at HHC and partner organization
  • Pull partnership reports to assess impact and utilization
  • Maintain our resource directory on the Hope House website

Volunteer Program 

  • Oversee the success of the volunteer program by ensuring annual goals are being met 
  • Lead the Volunteer Coordinator in assessing HHC’s volunteer needs and recruitment, engagement, and appreciation efforts 
  • Ensure the volunteer management system is achieving intended outcomes (e.g. data quality, volunteer spreadsheet)

  • You have a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance (required)
  • You can pass a required background checks: fingerprinting, child abuse & neglect (TRAILS) screening, out of state screens, if applicable, and drug screen (required)
  • You are committed to our Hope House Colorado’s Core Values and continually working towards the HHC mission (required)
  • You have a minimum two years of experience as a program leader in human services field (preferred)
  • You have three years of experience working with at-risk adolescents, teenage mothers, or similar at-risk population (preferred)
  • You have two years of experience in direct-service program development, management, and evaluation (required)
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • You demonstrate strong, effective leadership skills and excellent communication skills (required)
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, education, or related field; or you have experience in building, implementing, sustaining, and evaluating programs (preferred)

Salary Range

$92,000-$134,000/year

  • Health Benefits: Employees may elect medical, dental, vision & life insurance plans.
  • Simple IRA: Employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions through HHC’s Simple IRA plan and HHC will match the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s annual salary.
  • Vacation: Upon hire, employees earn 4.61 hours of vacation per paycheck up to 120 hours (3 weeks) in a year. Accruals are adjusted to increase vacation earned per hours worked based on length of employment with HHC.
  • Holidays: HHC observes eleven (11) holidays throughout the year. Salaried employees are paid for these holidays according to the nationally recognized observation day for each holiday. In addition, salaried employees are currently gifted either the week of Christmas or the week of New Year’s off, to be scheduled at the discretion of their supervisor.
  • Sick Leave: HHC provides eligible employees with Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) and Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) in accordance with the requirements of Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).
  • Employer Based Childcare: Employer Based Childcare: Employees receive a discount for their child(ren)’s child care tuition if they are enrolled in the Hope House Colorado Early Learning Center.
  • Hope House Colorado is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program! HHC provides employees with free assistance navigating the PSLF program to submit their federal student loans for forgiveness
