Description
The Procurement team at Argonne National Laboratory seeks applications from talented and highly-motivated individuals to join a team of specialists focused on providing procurement support and exceptional service to the scientists, engineers, and organizations across the Laboratory.
The Procurement Specialist- Subcontracts facilitates the procurement process through the timely and economical acquisition of services required by the scientific and operations organizations of Argonne National Laboratory within legal constraints of the regulatory procedures and statutes.
A successful candidate will have experience delivering exceptional customer service, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. In this role, the Procurement Specialist will manage and coordinate assigned subcontract actions, provide guidance and proactive updates to internal customers, and ensure acquisitions are conducted efficiently and in compliance with applicable requirements.
Provide support, as needed, to all aspects of acquisitions for commercial and non-commercial subcontracts including but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate subcontract closeout activities and maintain procurement trackers, including contract expiration reports, to ensure timely closeouts and proactive notifications to technical representatives.
- Perform pre- and post-award acquisition activities, such as planning, scheduling, administering, terminating, and closing out awards while working jointly with a multitude of personnel (e.g., program, finance, budget, legal).
- Perform price and cost analyses.
- Negotiate orders, evaluate and select vendors, and determine appropriate prices.
- Work with other team members to complete duties as needed.
Position Requirements
- PA1: Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree and 0+ years of experience
- Experience performing price and cost analyses
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members to complete duties
- Some experience of applicable procurement regulations and established procurement policies and procedures
- Some knowledge of negotiating orders, evaluating and selecting vendors, and determining appropriate prices
- Ability to complete price analysis
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Full timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $52,445.00 - $82,748.25.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Additionally, comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
