Description

*Responsible for keeping the Division Dean and Department Head informed of the operation of the supervisory unit, as applicable
*Assists Department Head in scheduling classes and creating faculty schedules, as assigned
*Assists Department Head in hiring, evaluating, and supervising adjunct faculty, as assigned
*Assists Department Head with addressing and resolving faculty and student concerns and issues
*Provides effective instruction for course(s), as assigned
Supports the Department Head in the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and performance management of full-time faculty, including classroom observations, evaluations, mentoring, professional development, and corrective action.
Collaborates with the Department Head on curriculum and course development, ensuring alignment with program, departmental, and institutional goals.
Projects departmental staffing and resource needs and coordinates the timely acquisition of faculty, textbooks, supplies, equipment, and other instructional resources.
Supports and promotes faculty professional development and growth through mentoring, resource identification, and opportunities for continued learning.
Assists students with degree requirement override requests, ensuring requests are reviewed and processed in accordance with institutional policies and degree requirements.
Contributes to departmental enrollment growth and student recruitment efforts by maintaining accurate enrollment records, collecting and analyzing enrollment trends, ensuring the accuracy of catalog, website, and promotional materials, and promoting departmental courses and programs.
Assists the Department Head with the collection, analysis, and reporting of program learning outcomes and assessment data to support institutional effectiveness and program improvement.
Collaborate with the Department Head to facilitate professional development, evaluate and interpret departmental data, lead advising initiatives, and assist with other administrative functions as needed.
Ensures departmental course syllabi comply with current college, division, and department policies, procedures, and requirements.
Serves as a collaborative member of the divisional management team, contributing to policy development and leading divisional projects, initiatives, or committees as assigned.
Assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating department meetings, including supporting agendas, communication, and follow-up activities.
Supports faculty in implementing college initiatives and requirements, including ADA accessibility compliance, instructional technology, grant activities, and Applied Benchmarking projects.
Participates in college open houses, campus events, and student recruitment initiatives to attract and retain prospective Accounting students.
Collaborates with the Department Head to strengthen program visibility, partnerships, and community engagement through strategic outreach to employers, high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, and industry partners in the Accounting field.
Supports the Accounting Club and other student engagement activities to promote student involvement, leadership development, and connection to the Accounting program.
Serves as the Accounting program’s designated Work-Based Learning Coordinator, facilitating student placement opportunities and serving as a liaison among students, faculty, employers, and industry partners.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient with MS Office products including MS Word and Excel
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
Exhibits strong leadership skills
Evidence of ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of advances in the field
Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Able to stay current with technology relating to course instruction
Requirements:
Master's degree in accounting or a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in accounting.
One-year post-secondary teaching experience in accounting
Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership skills
Preferences:
Prior supervisory experience in a post-secondary academic setting
Community college teaching experience
Demonstrated participation and involvement in college-wide initiatives
Experience addressing technology and ADA accessibility issues
