General Description of the Programme:
Established in 1977, GOAL is an international humanitarian and development agency, committed to working with communities to achieve sustainable and innovative early response in crises, and lasting solutions to poverty and vulnerability. GOAL has worked in over 60 countries and has responded to almost every major humanitarian disaster. We are currently operational in 18 countries.
GOAL began operations in Syria in 2013 responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL's areas of operations include but not limited to Aleppo, Idleb and Lattakia Governorates, and is expanding to new governorates in Syria. Programmes focus on Food and Nutrition Security, WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods/ERMS and Emergency Response with an emphasis on cash and voucher modalities. GOAL Syria implements its programmes directly, with over 500 staff based in Syria, and through Syrian NGO partners. GOAL's programme works at the household and community levels to improve community resilience and household coping strategies.
Job purpose:
Duties, objectives and competencies
- Ensure the management of the Guards.
- The Safety and Security Assistant manage all safety and security equipment, ensuring that it is well maintained and functional, including First aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers.
- Ensure the safety of the offices and staff.
- Train new staff members in communication protocols and the communication tree.
- Maintain a table of contact numbers for all staff working in the Office, Update, and share list with Safety & Security Manager Northwest and Central Syria.
- Keep a copy of the visitor log and check it monthly.
- Ensure that the APPROPRIATE contact numbers are available in Idlib office.
- Ensure that all staff in the Office have an updated 'GOAL ID.
- Report daily to the Safety & Security Manager Northwest and Central Syria about the general situation of the office regarding the safety and the security of the building.
- Maintain verbal contact with all cars and Team Leaders in the field at regular intervals.
- Ensure that the team travel has the appropriate equipment as required per GOAL safety procedures and vehicles have a First Aid Kit.
- Follow GOAL communication procedures.
- Gather information from the field as and when requested.
- Raising reports on accidents and violations.
- To carry out any other relevant tasks as requested by Safety & Security Manager North and Central Syria
Requirements (Person Specification):
- BA degree.
- Work experience in NGO for 3 years at least.
- Work at S&S in NGOs for 1 year at least.
- Good spoken and written Arabic.
- Computer skills – (Word and Excel…)
- Technical skills, including setup, and social media…
- Clear communication skills.
- The ability to record, keep, and pass accurate messages is essential.
- Ability to work under pressure and react to emergencies calmly and logically.
- Sensitivity to gender and diversity issues in work practices.
- Good knowledge for Syria context.
Requirements (desirables)
- Proven experience in reports writing and security incidents updates.
- Attend relevant S&S trainings.
