About the team:
The Associate AI Platform team develops an enterprise-scale AI platform that enhances productivity, decision-making, and knowledge access for over two million Walmart associates globally. Operating at the intersection of AI, distributed systems, developer platforms, and product engineering, the team addresses complex challenges in agent orchestration, tool execution, personalization, and responsible AI. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will contribute to shaping the platform’s architecture and technical direction, driving innovation and scalability within one of the world’s largest enterprises. The team emphasizes robust design, cloud-native principles, and data-driven solutions to deliver impactful intelligent experiences.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to support automation and intelligent features.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven practices.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in conducting system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural standards.
- Skilled in API design, software prototyping, and applying design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using metrics to optimize engineering processes and product outcomes.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and collaborative communication across cross-functional teams.

Sunnyvale, California US-11349: The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
