Key Account Manager
Lead strategic customer partnerships. Grow a leading business. Develop a high-performing team.
The Carlisle Group is conducting a retained search on behalf of our client, a growing force in the tire industry. With a broad portfolio serving passenger car, light truck, commercial truck, trailer, high-performance, and ATV markets, our client has built an international sales and distribution network supported by decades of investment in product design, technology, and distribution.
Our client is expanding its sales organization and seeking a Key Account Manager to lead relationships with its largest and most complex customers. This is an opportunity to shape strategic partnerships, grow valuable accounts, and make a visible contribution to a dynamic, entrepreneurial company.
About the role
As Key Account Manager, you’ll build trusted relationships throughout your accounts—from operational and purchasing contacts to senior executives. You’ll develop a deep understanding of each customer’s business and priorities, then bring the right people and resources together to strengthen the partnership and deliver growth.
You’ll lead account strategy with a combination of customer insight, commercial judgment, and reliable data. From identifying expansion opportunities to addressing risks and coordinating solutions, you’ll help our client become a more valuable partner to its most important customers. You’ll also coach and develop direct reports, helping build a disciplined, collaborative approach to key account management.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary relationship leader and trusted advisor for key accounts, building connections at every level of the customer organization.
- Learn each account’s business, structure, priorities, and decision-making process.
- Lead regular operational check-ins and strategic business reviews to assess performance and align on shared priorities.
- Create account plans and growth strategies, identifying opportunities across products, locations, categories, and business units.
- Use sales, account, and market data to evaluate performance, identify risks, and guide recommendations.
- Develop tailored proposals in partnership with product, marketing, pricing, and other internal teams.
- Monitor customer needs and competitive activity, taking action to protect and grow our client’s position.
- Advocate for customers internally and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on commitments.
- Resolve issues promptly and communicate account priorities, risks, and opportunities to internal stakeholders.
- Own forecasting and pipeline management; prepare account reports and maintain accurate CRM records.
- Coach and develop direct reports through clear expectations, regular feedback, and ongoing support for their professional growth.
What you’ll bring
- 5–8+ years of experience in key account management, national accounts, strategic sales, or a related field, including responsibility for large, complex customer relationships.
- At least 2 years of experience managing, coaching, or mentoring others—or demonstrated informal leadership.
- A record of growing existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling, or broader customer partnerships.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, including confidence engaging senior customer leaders.
- The ability to use sales, CRM, and market data to guide decisions and account strategy.
- Strong commercial judgment, organization, and attention to detail, with a habit of verifying information before acting.
- The ability to influence across functions and align teams around customer priorities.
- Proficiency with Excel and CRM or business intelligence tools.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 25–30% for customer visits, business reviews, and industry events.
Compensation and opportunity
The anticipated total compensation package is $200,000–$260,000.
Excellent Benefits Package: Profit Sharing, 401K, Health, Dental, Eye, Life, PTO, paid company holidays
This is an opportunity to lead high-impact customer relationships, develop a team, and help strengthen our client’s sales organization as it continues to grow. If you bring strategic account leadership, a customer-first mindset, and a drive to build lasting business, we’d like to hear from you.
