Health & Safety Officer & CDM Adviser

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer & CDM Adviser, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.00 - £33.14 per hour

Hours Per Week: 15.00

Summary:

Somerset Council is seeking a Health and Safety Officer and CDM Adviser to provide expert health and safety advice across the Infrastructure and Transport Directorate. The role will act as the principal CDM Adviser, supporting compliance across construction projects while promoting a strong health and safety culture.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and review of the Directorate Health and Safety Management and Improvement Plan
• Act as the principal adviser on CDM Regulations 2015
• Conduct health and safety audits and inspections
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing across the Directorate
• Monitor changes to health and safety legislation and guidance

Qualifications:

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent, including Maths and English
• Level 3 qualification or equivalent
• Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional accreditation

Essential Requirements:

• Thorough understanding of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and related regulations
• In-depth knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
• Knowledge of health and safety management systems and best practices
• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
• Understanding of corporate health and safety policies and procedures
