Summary of Job Duties:

The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH), UAMS Health’s surgical hospital is looking for passionate Patient Services Associate who are ready to join a team that’s redefining quality care. The Patient Services Associate(PSA) is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PSA works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PSA must pass the required competencies. The PSA works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PSA adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED  Plus 1 year of Patient Care Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with EPIC system 
• Call center experience 
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Intermediate proficiency with computers (MS Office Suite preferred) 
• Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.
• General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners. 
• CPR Certified/Licensed.
• Experience in an ambulatory care setting ​ 

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient rooms for patients. Assists with medical procedures and examinations.
• Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and performs phlebotomy.
• Performs EKG’s.
• Researches and scribes for physicians if needed.
• Performs administrative tasks.
• They will also be cross-trained as an IA, the face of the nursing unit who greets each guest, makes them feel welcome, and keeps them informed.
• Maintains order on the unit by routing new orders and consults.
• Answers call lights.
• Meets the unit's paging needs.
• Monitors and meets patient needs, helping ensure patient flow through the unit is seamless.
• Performs admission and discharge duties, reconciles and enters patient charges, performs data entry, helps with stocking/ cleaning, and does telemetry and video monitoring.
• Responsible and accountable for the tone of the nursing unit.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
