The Senior Program Manager, CM Product Launch is responsible for leading new product introductions at external contract manufacturing partners from early planning through qualification, production ramp, and handoff to sustaining operations.
This role serves as the key program interface between Lumentum R&D teams and the contract manufacturer, ensuring that product requirements are translated into clear manufacturing plans and that the CM is ready to support engineering builds, qualification, and volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional product launch programs at contract manufacturing sites.
- Serve as the primary interface between R&D, internal Operations teams, and the CM.
- Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, milestones, risks, actions, and dependencies.
- Ensure CM readiness across equipment, tooling, test capability, materials, documentation, systems, staffing, training, quality, and capacity.
- Coordinate prototype, engineering, qualification, and production ramp builds.
- Drive timely resolution of technical, operational, and supply-chain issues affecting launch readiness.
- Lead regular program reviews, readiness reviews, risk reviews, and executive status updates.
- Manage capital equipment planning, procurement, installation, and qualification in support of product launch.
- Track program budgets, resource requirements, and schedule performance.
- Ensure a structured handoff from launch to sustaining operations.
- Apply continuous improvement and lessons learned to strengthen future CM launches.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, supply chain, business, or a related field.
- 8 or more years of experience in program management, manufacturing, engineering, operations, or new product introduction.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional product launches.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or external manufacturing partners.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing readiness, product qualification, and production ramp.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to influence and drive accountability across global, matrixed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in optical communications, electronics, semiconductor, photonics, or high-technology manufacturing.
- Experience with capital equipment deployment and manufacturing process qualification.
- Experience using Microsoft Project to develop, maintain, and communicate complex, cross-functional program schedules.
- PMP certification or equivalent project-management training.
