Job Summary**

Lumentum Operations LLC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineer Staff, Mechanical Engineering to contribute to the design, development, and optimization of innovative optical communication products and manufacturing processes. This role involves applying mechanical engineering principles to solve complex problems and ensure product reliability and performance.

Job Responsibilities**

* Lead the mechanical design and analysis of new product concepts, components, and assemblies, utilizing CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and FEA tools.
* Develop and implement robust testing methodologies to validate mechanical designs, assess performance, and identify areas for improvement.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, optical, manufacturing, and reliability engineering teams to ensure seamless product integration and manufacturability.
* Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures, propose and implement effective corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Generate detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans, and reports, in accordance with company standards.
* Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and constructive feedback.
* Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for various mechanical components.

Job Qualifications**

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably within the optical, telecommunications, or semiconductor industries.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, and vibration analysis.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, stamping, and additive manufacturing.
* Experience with design for reliability (DFR) and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
* Demonstrated ability to solve complex mechanical problems through analytical and experimental methods.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
