This position is for an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator with a proven sales background. Tri City National Bank offers a competitive salary and variable compensation based on production. The Bank provides a full suite of mortgage products, including Conventional, FHLBC, FHA, VA, WHEDA, Portfolio ARMs, Single Close Construction, HELOC, HELOAN, ARM, and Bridge loans.
The Mortgage Loan Originator will have opportunities to generate business through both bank-provided referrals and established external referral sources. Success in this role requires strong networking, relationship-building, and customer management skills.

This role serves as a trusted relationship manager throughout the customer lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of mortgage customers while ensuring timely loan closings.
- Perform all loan origination activities in compliance with applicable regulations and Bank policies and procedures; maintain current knowledge of industry and regulatory changes.
- Guide customers through the entire loan process, from application and analysis through closing, while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Establish clear customer expectations and provide timely status updates to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Develop and execute a business plan with defined marketing activities and production goals; periodically evaluate and adjust as needed.
- Develop new client and referral relationships while maintaining existing partnerships.
- Build effective working relationships within assigned branches, the mortgage department, and other areas of the Bank.
- Collaborate with management to develop loan solutions, products, and services.
- Report any process or procedure that does not meet regulatory requirements, including suspected or confirmed fraud, to management.
Qualifications
- Two to four years of successful mortgage loan origination experience; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain quality, productivity, flexibility, and professionalism while working with customers.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Established referral network, including Realtors, Financial Planners, Builders, and related professionals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with mortgage loan origination systems; Mortgagebot experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current lending regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to explain rates and terms, evaluate credit requests, recommend appropriate mortgage products, and counsel applicants on options to improve future approval opportunities.
- Strong understanding of Conventional, FHA, VA, and WHEDA mortgage programs, including processing, documentation, underwriting, and closing requirements.
- Working knowledge of CFPB Qualified Mortgage and Ability-to-Repay guidelines.
