Description

The Director of Finance provides leadership across the Company’s finance and accounting functions. This role is responsible for financial reporting, planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, cash and working capital management, internal controls, tax and audit coordination, the development of financial insights that support business decisions and long-term growth, and financial support for Board, ownership, and equity-related matters. 

This role serves as a strategic finance partner to senior and department leaders, translating financial and operational data into actionable insights, strengthening financial discipline across the organization, and leading the finance team in accordance with the core values of Scott Group Studio. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly financial close and reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements and a comprehensive monthly reporting package for leadership review.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, partnering with Leadership Team members to develop assumptions, evaluate performance, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, dashboards, and key performance indicators to support strategic, operational, and investment decisions.
  • Provide financial analysis and business partnership to senior and department leaders, including profitability, margin, pricing, cost, labor, capital investment, and scenario analysis.
  • Lead all tax compliance and audit activities, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and governmental agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and reporting requirements for a multi-state organization.
  • Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, lender requirements, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, 401K activity, sales and property tax, online banking, credit card activity, and other recurring finance processes.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital, including cash forecasting and strategies to achieve targeted working capital goals while supporting the operational needs of the business.
  • Oversee debt covenant calculations, lender reporting, and other requirements related to Company financing arrangements.
  • Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable (LMA) finance and accounting team members, establishing clear expectations, developing team capability, and building scalable processes as the business grows.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and systems to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and financial visibility.
  • Partner with operational leaders to evaluate business performance and improve financial understanding and accountability across the organization.
  • Support strategic initiatives, capital planning, business cases, and other special projects through financial modeling, due diligence, and analysis.
  • Prepare and coordinate financial materials, analyses, forecasts, and other information for Board of Directors and ownership meetings; support senior leadership in responding to Board and investor financial inquiries.
  • Manage the financial administration and recordkeeping associated with Company equity and incentive equity agreements, including ownership and capitalization schedules, grants, vesting information, valuation support, distributions, and related documentation, in partnership with executive leadership and legal counsel.
  • Support equity transactions, recapitalizations, financing activities, ownership changes, and other capital structure matters by providing financial analysis, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating required information with internal and external partners.
  • Support transaction and exit readiness activities, including financial due diligence, quality of earnings support, data room preparation, and financial analysis related to acquisitions, recapitalizations, or a potential sale of the Company.
  • Partner with the Company’s private equity sponsor and executive leadership on merger and acquisition activities, including financial modeling, due diligence, valuation and deal analysis, integration planning, and coordination of financial information with external advisors and transaction partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes, and leverage financial systems and data to increase the effectiveness of the finance function.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field and 8 plus years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Prior experience leading a broad finance function in a manufacturing, product-based, or similarly complex business environment preferred.
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cash management, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate financial and operational data into clear business insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, organization, and documentation skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and develop others, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively with a high degree of independence.
  • Forward-thinking and continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to build scalable processes and strengthen financial systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working with sensitive financial and business information.
  • Experience supporting a Board of Directors, ownership group, or investors and working with equity agreements, capitalization records, or related financial governance matters preferred.
  • Must be PC proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting and reporting systems; experience with Tabelau, PowerBI, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Able to learn and master specialized software tools, including our proprietary software system (JobTrack), Microsoft Query, Tableau reports, and PPM.

  • Ability to travel to company locations and business meetings as needed.
