The opportunity
We’re Hiring: R&D Software Engineer | Hitachi Energy Do you want to develop software that helps power some of the world's most critical energy infrastructure? Join the MACH Infrastructure & Tools team at Hitachi Energy and work at the intersection of software engineering, industrial automation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team developing and evolving a strategically important in-house application used across our HVDC business. Unlike many corporate software roles, you'll have the opportunity to work across the complete software lifecycle and gain real ownership from day one.
This role offers the opportunity to work on software that directly supports critical infrastructure, contributing to solutions that have a real impact on the reliability and security of essential systems. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and technical specialists, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience in industrial digitalization, operational technology (OT) environments, networking, and cybersecurity.
Working in a quality-focused engineering environment, you'll leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to design and deliver innovative solutions. The position also provides excellent opportunities for professional growth, with potential career paths leading to roles such as Technical Lead, Product Owner, or Design Architect.
How you’ll make an impact
Design, develop, test, and maintain industrial software applications using C#, .NET and Python technologies.
Collaborate with architects, project managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Support continuous improvement of software development processes, quality standards, and engineering practices
Contribute to reliability, cybersecurity, and long-term maintainability of software supporting critical infrastructure solutions.
Participate in technical investigations, troubleshooting activities, and feature development across the software lifecycle.
Build technical ownership of strategic applications and help drive future product and platform evolution.
Your background
B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with software development using C#, .NET and/or Python.
Knowledge of desktop application development; experience with MVVM architecture is considered an advantage.
Strong analytical skills, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn new technologies and domains.
Collaborative and self-driven personality with a high degree of ownership and accountability
Fluency in English, both written and spoken; Swedish is considered an advantage.
