Job Description:
- Provide emergency, medical or first aid care in the workplace as well as arranging for further care if necessary for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Support workplace injury incident investigations, including documentation and follow-up activities such as fitness for work assessments, to facilitate effective case management and injury prevention efforts.
- Conduct or coordinate health surveillance, occupational health screening, and industrial hygiene monitoring programs, including audiometric testing, respirator fit testing, pulmonary function testing, ergonomic assessments, drug and alcohol testing, and other health screening programs
- Promote and support employees in managing their personal health and wellbeing by providing health counselling and guidance on appropriate medical and psychological care options.
- Assist/collaborate with the Ability Management team to deliver effective disability and case management program services, including support for employees and managers managing work-related and non-work-related injuries, illnesses, and return-to-work plans.
- Work collaboratively to assess, plan, and deliver employee health and wellness programs, such as immunization programs.
- Support organizational compliance with health, safety, and workers’ compensation legislation by monitoring regulatory requirements and providing input into the development and enhancement of related programs, policies, and procedures.
- Collect and track illness and injury incident data, to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidential employee health records in accordance with privacy legislation, professional nursing standards, and company requirements
- Support First Aider program by providing First aid skills and company process reviews to first aiders
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the development and maintenance of Job Demands Analyses (JDAs).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of nursing or Advanced Care Paramedic experience
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Bachelors degree in nursing, or Graduate of an accredited school of Paramedicine as determined by the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP)
- Current license & membership in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), or with the Alberta College of Paramedics with unrestricted license
- Current Advanced First Aid (AFA) certification or willingness to obtain as soon as available.
- Additional training (e.g. Occupational Health Nursing Certificate) or experience as an Occupational Health Nurse/Industrial Medic in manufacturing, mining, or oil & gas are considered an asset.
- Current certification in Audiometry or willingness to obtain as soon as available.
- Knowledge of applicable provincial legislation and regulations related to occupational health services, occupational health and safety, workers' compensation, and the Health Information Act
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn specialized occupational health software used for data management, reporting, communications, and health testing programs.
- Experience working within a unionized environment is considered an asset
- Possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills with the ability to assess situations, prioritize competing demands, and respond effectively in dynamic environments.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills complemented by strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration with stakeholders

Note:
- We are hiring for 2 shifts as follows. Please specify preferred shift
- Shift #1
- 12-hour weekday continuous shift
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Rotating schedule of 4 on / 3 off, followed by 3 on / 4 off
- Sunday-Wednesday, then Sunday-Tuesday on the alternating rotation
- Shift #2
- 12-hour weekend nights continuous shift
- 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Rotating schedule of 3 on / 4 off, followed by 4 on / 3 off
- Thursday-Saturday, then Wednesday-Saturday on the alternating rotation
- Occasional overtime will be available, but not a requirement.
- Must complete acceptable Criminal Record & Background Check, and successfully pass pre-employment Fitness-for-Duty testing
