#LI-HybridTeam Overview
We're looking for a data-driven Finance Business Partner to act as the financial navigator for our Delivery business. This is not a back-office accounting role — it's a strategic partnership position.
You will embed yourself with the Operations, Growth, and Marketing teams running our B2C and C2C delivery verticals, understand how their decisions move the P&L, and make sure every dollar of spend and incentive is tied to a measurable outcome. Delivery runs on millions of transactions, and the person in this seat is expected to go get the data and build the answer — not wait for a report.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and unafraid to ask hard questions. You'll build strong relationships with business stakeholders while keeping the independence to challenge proposals, flag risks, and enforce financial discipline.
Beyond traditional financial stewardship, you'll be a catalyst for our AI Transformation: proactively using AI to automate routine work, surface deeper insights, and help both Finance and the business work smarter.
Role Responsibilities
1. Strategic partnership & constructive challenge
- Business embedding: Establish structured routines with Delivery Ops, Growth, and Marketing leads. Understand their daily workflows, operating levers, and resource needs.- **Business case evaluation:** Act as a "critical friend." Review proposals for incentive programs, campaigns, pricing changes, vendor contracts, and operational investments. Challenge assumptions, stress-test ROI and payback, and flag financial risk *before* money is committed.- **Workflow mapping:** Map partner-team workflows to identify bottlenecks, leakage, and cost-optimization opportunities.
2. Modeling & unit economics
- Own the unit economics of the Delivery business: contribution margin per order, cost per delivery, subsidy efficiency, courier cost structure, and merchant commission dynamics across B2C and C2C.- Build the models that support real decisions — scenario analysis, incentive program payback, pricing sensitivity, and city-level profitability.- Rolling forecasts: Lead monthly forecast cycles for your partner teams, adjusting dynamically as demand, supply, and competitive conditions shift.
3. Analysis & executive reporting
- Granular spend tracking: Monitor expenditure by project, vendor, city, and category. Ensure data integrity and correct cost allocation.- Variance analysis: Run rigorous Actuals vs. Budget vs. Forecast analysis and decompose variances into real drivers — volume, mix, rate, subsidy — not just line-item deltas.- Executive summaries: Translate complex financial data into concise, actionable recommendations for leadership.
4. AI integration & process transformation
- AI tool adoption: Use AI tools (ChatGPT Advanced Data Analysis, Claude, Copilot, or specialized finance AI) to accelerate data processing, anomaly detection, and scenario modeling — with the judgment to validate what comes back.- Workflow automation: Identify manual, repetitive finance workflows — data consolidation, first-pass variance commentary, recurring decks — and automate them.- Team upskilling: Act as an AI champion. Coach business partners and finance peers on using AI safely and effectively.
5. Operational finance
- Support the day-to-day mechanics of your scope — PO approvals, accruals, and month-end adjustments — enough to guarantee your actuals are clean and your analysis stands on solid ground.
Role Qualifications
We'd love to hear from you if you are
- Constructively skeptical: Comfortable asking "why?" and "prove it." You push back on a weak business case respectfully but firmly, regardless of seniority.- Self-serve with data: You don't wait for BI. You get to the number yourself — and you notice when it doesn't add up.- Tech-forward: You actively explore how AI and automation make you faster and more accurate, rather than waiting to be handed a tool.- An exceptional communicator: You explain complex financial realities to non-finance leaders clearly, bridging operational goals and budget constraints.- Agile and ownership-driven: Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving, high-growth environment, with high emotional intelligence to manage stakeholder pushback.
Requirements
Must-have
- Strategic partnership: 3–6 years in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Commercial Finance, or Business Partnering, with a track record of *influencing* business decisions — not only reporting on them. Be ready to share a specific example of a proposal you stopped or redirected.- Financial modeling: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets, with proven experience building financial models, scenario analyses, and unit-economic breakdowns.- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Strongly preferred
- Data self-service: Hands-on experience working directly against large transactional datasets (SQL, Python, or equivalent). We care less about the tool than about your ability to reach the data without depending on BI — and to catch when the output is wrong.- AI in real workflows: Demonstrable use of generative AI in professional finance work — analysis, reporting, narrative drafting, or forecasting. Be prepared to walk us through a specific example, including how you validated the output.- Industry context: Tech, logistics, on-demand delivery, or fast-paced startup environments.- Data visualization: Tableau or Power BI.
Nice-to-have
- Operational finance exposure: POs, accruals, month-end adjustments, and accounting workflows. We want you to understand the cycle, not run it full-time.- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
