The Department of Mathematics at University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mathematics, beginning in August 2027.
We seek candidates with expertise in applied mathematics. We particularly welcome applicants whose research interests complement or expand the department's existing strengths. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to differential equations, mathematical modeling, dynamical systems, numerical analysis, probability and stochastic modeling, combinatorics, and applications of mathematics to other disciplines.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active research program, contribute to the teaching mission of the department at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in departmental, college, and university service.
Applicants must have:
A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field by the time of appointment
Evidence of potential for research excellence in applied mathematics
Evidence of potential for effective teaching at the university level.

Three letters of recommendation evaluating the candidate’s research qualifications and potential; at least one letter must also comment on the candidate’s teaching effectiveness.
