Job Summary
ERM is seeking an experienced professional to help lead our ESG Data Management team at a Partner or Consulting Director level.
Our ESG Data Management services offer builds robust ESG data management frameworks that support our clients’ energy transition, regulatory compliance, sustainability performance, and informs business critical decision-making. You will lead complex projects that enable clients to:
Manage energy consumption, costs and emissions data effectively
Optimise data architectures
Respond to high and escalating energy cost, and evolving internal and external ESG reporting requirements
Transform ESG Data framework
Operationalise Renewable Energy strategy
You will play a critical role in expanding our ESG Data Management practice by growing existing client accounts, developing new business opportunities, and reinforcing ERM's position as a trusted advisor in the sustainable business and energy transition landscape. This involves leading implementation and advisory projects, managing client relationships, mentoring teams and contributing to strategic business development.

ERM's ESG Data Management services help clients design and implement tailored frameworks that align with their operational structures, contractual arrangements, sustainability objectives, and business processes. These frameworks provide the foundation for operational resilience, robust reporting, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement, while enabling organisations to translate sustainability strategy into measurable actions.

As a senior leader within ERM, you will shape and deliver complex, high-impact solutions that help clients operationalise their sustainability and net zero ambitions. You will build trusted executive relationships, drive innovation, and apply commercial acumen to grow strategic client portfolios while advancing ERM's purpose and market leadership. Through leadership, mentoring, and capability building, you will strengthen our team, foster an inclusive and collaborative culture, and ensure excellence in project delivery, governance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the growth strategy for ERM's ESG Data Management practice, aligned with emerging sustainability reporting requirements, decarbonisation initiatives, and energy market developments.
Identify market opportunities and develop innovative service offerings that address evolving client needs.
Drive innovation in service delivery through the responsible adoption of AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
Collaborate with leaders across ERM's global sustainability, digital, and energy practices to deliver integrated solutions.
Build, mentor, and develop teams across ERM's Sydney and Melbourne offices.
2. Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Act as the senior point of contact for key clients, providing strategic advice on ESG data management.
Provide strategic guidance on ESG data management, sustainability reporting, emissions accounting, and energy data frameworks.
Develop a deep understanding of client business models and identify opportunities to improve ESG data maturity, governance, reporting quality, and operational performance.
Build long-term relationships with senior finance, sustainability, operations, and technology stakeholders.
Position ERM as a strategic partner through thought leadership and exceptional client outcomes.
Facilitate the cross sell of other ERM service offerings to our key clients.
Manage ERM’s relationships with our key software partners.
3. Project Oversight & Delivery
Lead large-scale ESG data management and sustainability reporting engagements from design through implementation and operational support.
Work with ERM’s operations teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation, and application of emerging technologies.
Stay abreast of evolving energy market development, sustainability reporting frameworks, climate disclosure requirements, and carbon accounting standards, translating market and regulatory changes into practical client solutions.
Deploy and develop approaches to deliver our services cost effectively for our clients.
Proactively identify and manage project risks while ensuring effective governance and quality assurance.
4. Business Development & Growth
Develop and execute commercial strategies to expand services within existing accounts and win new ESG data management engagements.
Identify emerging market trends, client challenges, and growth opportunities to shape future service offerings.
Lead proposal development, client presentations, and competitive pursuits.
Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and prioritise high-value engagements.
Establish a profile and outbound focus through participation at events and conference presentations.
5. Team Leadership & Development
Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team of consultants, analysts, and technical specialists.
Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Conduct performance and development reviews, identify capability gaps, and support recruitment and workforce planning activities.
Requirements
Education: BS/MS in accounting, finance/commerce, business information systems, engineering, sustainability, environmental management or related disciplines.
Demonstrated expertise in ESG data management, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, sustainability reporting, and business process (re)design and operational transformation especially in the sustainability space,
Experience delivering large-scale technology, data, or transformation programs, including ESG reporting platforms and enterprise data solutions.
Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and influence executive-level decision-making.
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of business development, account growth, and revenue generation.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
An established network within the ESG data management and sustainability reporting community.
Significant expertise in a sector markedly impacted by Australia’s energy transitions and ASRS reporting requirements.
A demonstrable personal and professional commitment to environmental and/or sustainability initiatives.
