Job Description:

The Project Officer is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and management of overall project deliverables, ensuring quality, timeliness, and accountability in line with approved Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs). The officer provides matrix supervision and mentorship to Project Assistants, guiding their work towards the sustainable spiritual nurture of children and households and creating an environment in which children thrive.

 

The hire shall facilitate the capacity building of churches and faith communities, equipping them for active and sustained participation in holistic mission, and shall foster strong working relationships with local leaders, government structures, and other stakeholders to strengthen community ownership of interventions. The position ensures that field-level implementation is well-coordinated, adequately monitored, and reported on, and serves as a critical link between community-level activities, cluster/district-level programme and national coordination. Through this work, the position enables WVIL to achieve its strategic priorities on Children demonstrating signs of Hope rooted in God's Love.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities

Provide hands-on faith & development technical support to households and churches (30%)

• Support capacity building trainings for churches on faith & development approaches that include Empowered World View, Channels of Hope and Celebrating Families.

• Establish church structures and facilitate their trainings on Eco-Theology for environmental sustainability. 

• Facilitate households’ trainings on Savings for Transformation and support groups development.

• Conduct regular on-site technical assistance visits to verify implementation progress against Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs).

Facilitate implementation of sustainable spiritual nurture interventions for children (25%)

• Support trainings of children ministry leaders on age-appropriate discipleship programmes.

• Establish and Support community and school Bible clubs for effective implementation of spiritual nurture of children activities.

• Map Registered Children and ensure their meaningful participation of in all Spiritual Nurture interventions.

• Facilitate exchange learnings across communities and children camps that strengthen children’s healthy identity and hope for the future.

Monitor activity progress and collect data for MEAL and reporting purposes (20%)

 

• Conduct structured monitoring field visits using standardised data collection tools.

• Track physical progress, financial utilisation rates, and DIP milestone achievement for assigned activities.

• Support collection of gender-disaggregated data and impact documentation photographic and narrative evidence of implementation.

• Enter monitoring data into WVL's MEAL system within five working days of collection and contribute to quarterly and final reports.

• Produce timely and quality monthly, quarterly and annual reports

• Conduct Regular monitoring of project interventions and established community structures to ensure sustainability of interventions. 

Facilitate stakeholder coordination and church engagement (15%)

• Engage stakeholders for effective coordination, project support and implementation.

• Represent WVL at relevant district and national level coordination meetings.

• Facilitate connections between churches, community structures and other relevant stakeholders to achieve project milestones.

• Engage with faith & development community of practice for exchange learnings.

• Represent the project in different fora as appropriate.

Provide administrative and logistical support (10%)

• Lead logistical and administrative support to project assistants.

• Ensure financial management in line with WVL standards.

• Support timely procurement and resourcing of materials to all project staff and sites.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Education, Development Studies, or closely related fields.

• Diploma in Project Management will be an added advantage.

• Expertise in Faith & Development Models (Celebrating Families, Empowered World View, Channels of Hope).

• Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in faith integration in development.

• Demonstrated experience implementing faith & development core project models.  

• Have 3-5 years professional experience in project management in an NGO.

• Have sufficient experience with grant funded projects.

Knowledge/Technical Skills:

• Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities

• Must be have strong MS Office and digital solutions skills.

• Field-based: 90% field travel across assigned Area Development Programme.
