At Kids’ Food Basket, we believe healthy food is a right, not a privilege, for every child. Since 2002, we’ve grown from serving 125 students to providing more than 11,000 nourishing meals every weekday across 68 schools in Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa and Allegan counties. But we’re more than meals. Through food access, education, sustainable agriculture and community engagement, we’re working together toward a more nourished future. 

Position Summary

Love telling stories through photos, video, design and social media? The Digital Media Assistant Intern will get hands-on experience bringing the Kids’ Food Basket mission to life across digital and print channels. Working with our Communications team, you’ll help create engaging content, capture meaningful moments and share the stories of our mission and impact throughout West Michigan.

This is an opportunity to build your skills and portfolio while using your creativity for a cause that matters.

What You’ll Do

• Create engaging social media content, including drafting posts, selecting visuals, scheduling content and supporting community engagement. 
• Capture and edit photos and short videos that showcase programs, events, volunteers and moments of impact. 
• Design and update flyers, signs, handouts, presentations and digital graphics that bring the Kids’ Food Basket brand to life. 
• Keep digital content fresh and organized by updating the website in WordPress and maintaining photos, videos and other digital assets. 
• Support campaigns, events, email communications and other Communications team projects while following Kids’ Food Basket brand and messaging guidelines.

What You’ll Bring

• A high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and experience or education in communications, marketing, digital media or a related area.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with comfort creating engaging social media and digital content.
• Experience with photography, basic photo or video editing, and creative tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
• A creative, organized and flexible approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively.
• A commitment to respectful, community-centered storytelling and the mission of Kids’ Food Basket.

Bonus points if you’ve worked with WordPress, social media scheduling tools, email marketing platforms or nonprofit communications.
