Summary
A commercial real estate lending company is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper/Controller to manage day-to-day accounting, cash activity, and financial reporting across related entities. This is a hands-on role requiring strong bookkeeping fundamentals, accuracy, and the ability to independently maintain complete and reliable financial records. Prior lending experience is not required; training will be provided on loan accounting and related processes.
Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle bookkeeping across related entities, maintaining accurate transaction records and separate books for each company.

Monitor daily cash activity and coordinate transfers between accounts and banks for loan funding, repayments, and other transactions.

Complete monthly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and prepare journal entries.

Record loans issued to borrowers and the associated bank financing, including funding and repayment activity.

Prepare monthly interest invoices for borrowers, track collections, and follow up on outstanding payments.

Review and record interest charges from banks and ensure timely payment.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for senior leadership.

Manage bank account setup, documentation, and access, and coordinate with banking contacts as needed.

Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, escalating unusual transactions or unresolved questions promptly.
Requirements

2-6 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with strong command of bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records across multiple accounts and entities.

Excellent organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and work independently.

Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial information.

Real estate or lending experience preferred, but not required.

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
