Description
The successful candidate will join the John Hancock Insurance Technology team and contribute to solutions supporting New Business and Underwriting platforms and processes. In this role, you will research and analyze improvement opportunities, assess workflows, develop recommendations, and support the implementation of technology solutions that address business needs.
You will play an important role in shaping the organization’s technology landscape and helping ensure that systems and solutions align with business strategies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation and Documentation: Gather, interpret, and document business, functional, and user requirements.
- Workflow Analysis: Research and document opportunities and issues involving workflows, procedures, and business processes.
- Solution Development: Analyze information, develop creative solutions, and recommend approaches aligned with business needs and industry best practices.
- Process Implementation: Coordinate process changes, system enhancements, and product implementations, including the development of test plans that support successful delivery.
- System Mapping: Collaborate with Engineering and Architecture teams to create detailed system maps illustrating data flows, processes, dependencies, and interactions across current and proposed systems.
- User Story Development: Translate business and user requirements into epics, features, and user stories.
- Design Facilitation: Facilitate collaborative design sessions with project implementation teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Acceptance Criteria Development: Establish acceptance criteria, testing frameworks, and standards used to evaluate completed solutions.
- Test Case Evaluation: Support the translation of user stories and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, and user acceptance testing.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant practical experience.
- 5 or more years of experience in business systems analysis or a related field.
- Demonstrated analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Experience translating complex business requirements into clear technical or functional specifications.
- Ability to provide professional advice, make informed decisions within the scope of the role, and take a lead role in process or program execution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a changing environment.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools to support business analysis activities, such as requirements elicitation, documentation, analysis, process modelling, stakeholder communication, and testing support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of business analysis principles, methodologies, and technology systems.
- Experience working within the life insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and product management principles.
- Knowledge of system design, systems analysis, and user-testing best practices.
- Experience applying business analysis tools and techniques.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across a range of functions and organizational levels.
- Familiarity with enterprise-level systems and applications.
- A growth-oriented mindset, including a willingness to respectfully challenge established approaches, experiment with new ideas, remain open-minded, and adapt to change.
- Relevant professional certification, such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA).

Salary range is expected to be between
$90,160.00 USD - $167,440.00 USDEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
