If so, consider joining the Children’s After-School team within the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services.
We currently have immediate openings for two After-School Specialists; one will work with CASA and one with YAS in Leesburg, VA. The County's After School Activities (CASA) program serves elementary school children across 54 locations. Additionally, the specialist may assist with the County’s Youth After School (YAS) program, which operates in 12 middle schools. After-School Specialists are responsible for employing strong organizational and management skills to plan and execute age-appropriate activities while supervising CASA and/or YAS site staff.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
- PRCS, 742 Miller Drive SE, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Hiring, training, monitoring, and evaluating the work of staff of up to 10 different elementary or middle school locations in the County.
- Maintains program documentation.
- Ensures effective and professional communication with patrons, parents, site personnel, and staff members.
- Evaluates and determines the requirements of the program, develops programs and activities, and conducts program assessments.
- Provides courteous and timely customer service.
- Administers the program budget expenditures and ensures that financial resources are utilized effectively.
- Other essential duties related to the specific role and departmental assignment may also be performed.
The work schedule allows for a measure of flexibility, usually taking place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the assigned program or department and one (1) year related work experience with some lead or supervisory experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants are required to specify their programmatic experience along with any previous supervisory experience in the application.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years’ experience operating and supervising children's recreational and instructional activities.
