Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Human Resources will serve as a strategic partner and key member of the executive leadership team for Plainridge Park Casino. This role is responsible for crafting and executing the talent strategy from attraction through exit, including workforce strategy, talent management, engagement, employee/labor relations, development, and compliance, in alignment with Company values and business objectives.

 

  • Develops and executes talent strategies that align workforce capabilities with business objectives, growth plans, and operational priorities.
  • Champions the team member journey from attraction through exit, creating a culture where team members feel valued, connected, and empowered to perform.
  • Develops appropriate programs and policies for effective talent management to include, but not limited to, engagement, performance, employee/labor relations, development programs, training, and career development.
  • Develops and executes talent attraction strategies that identify diverse, high-performing talent and position the property as an employer of choice.
  • Strengthens the property's reputation in the community and labor market through partnerships, outreach, and employer branding efforts.
  • Builds leadership capability across all levels through coaching, feedback, development planning, and targeted growth opportunities.
  • Drives engagement and retention strategies informed by survey results, turnover trends, focus groups, and other team member feedback.
  • Uses workforce analytics, market insights, and business trends to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and guide talent decisions. 
  • Leads talent review and succession planning to identify high-potential talent and future leadership pipelines.
  • Develops the HR team to operate as credible, proactive, and business-focused partners.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor across the organization, influencing decisions through business acumen, data-driven insights, and HR expertise.
  • Leads proactive labor and employee relations strategies and sensitive workforce matters with sound judgment, fairness, and professionalism.
  • Partners with Corporate HR (Talent, Benefits, Systems), Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of people strategies.
  • Designs and improves HR processes that are efficient, compliant, and centered on the team member experience.
  • Ensures compliance with all employment laws (local and Federal), gaming regulations, Company policies, and ethical standards and reports potential issues to Executive Management / GM.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and Company matters.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Ten years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least three years of experience at a senior/executive level, including oversight of attraction, engagement, development, employee/labor relations, and retention initiatives.
  • Prior experience in high-volume recruiting and experience developing and leading HR teams with a business partner model.
  • Experience working in a union environment and taking part in negotiations.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of human resources management.
  • PHR or SPHR professional designation preferred.
  • Prior experience in the gaming industry is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES    

  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for the rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within the department and delivers constructive feedback to employees regarding performance.
  • Determines recommendations for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning, and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with executives, visitors, fellow employees, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate and percent.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS                                              

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient skills in using Microsoft Office

products, specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Lotus Organizer, and be comfortable searching and retrieving information from the Internet. 

  

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only

limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
