Senior SAP S/4HANA Controlling Consultant (m/f/d)

Job Scope

As a Senior SAP S/4HANA Controlling Consultant, you will advise clients on the design, implementation and optimization of management accounting and controlling processes. Working in different transformation projects, you will translate business requirements into scalable SAP S/4HANA solutions, configure core Controlling capabilities and guide customers through the full project lifecycle, from discovery and design to testing, and go-live.

You will act as a trusted advisor to Finance, Controlling and IT stakeholders, helping organizations improve cost transparency, profitability analysis, planning, reporting and performance management while ensuring effective integration with Financial Accounting, logistics and related SAP solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead or contribute to the design and implementation of SAP S/4HANA Controlling solutions across end-to-end transformation, migration and rollout projects.
• Analyze and optimize management accounting processes, including cost center accounting, internal orders, profit center accounting, product cost controlling, overhead cost management and profitability analysis / Margin Analysis.
• Configure SAP S/4HANA CO solutions and support integration with Financial Accounting (FI), Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), Project System (PS) and Asset Accounting where relevant.
• Advise clients on the Universal Journal and the integration of financial and management accounting processes in SAP S/4HANA.
• Lead discovery, fit-to-standard/gap workshops and requirements analysis; translate business needs into SAP CO solutions, functional specifications, configurations and test scenarios.
• Drive data migration, integrations, testing, cutover and go-live activities; resolve complex process/system issues and ensure high-quality project deliverables.
• Lead Controlling workstreams, deliver user training and knowledge transfer, support proposals and estimations, and contribute to SAP Controlling best practices and reusable assets.

Key Requirements:

• Extensive professional experience in SAP consulting with a strong focus on SAP Controlling and management accounting processes.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Controlling, particularly CO-OM, cost center accounting, internal orders, profit center accounting, product costing and CO-PA / Margin Analysis.
• Strong experience in discrete manufacturing and automotive is a must. 
• Strong exposure to complex intercompany processes, P&L by product groups, P&L by vertical or at plant levels, Group Margin automation etc.
• At least 4 E2E S/4 implementation projects with participation from Prepare to Run phases.
• Experience with assessment of an existing S/4 HANA global template, provide improvement suggestions such as Go to Standard or Custom Solution optimizations
• Solid understanding of the Universal Journal and integration between CO, FI and relevant logistics modules.
• Experience in requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, data migration, cutover and post-go-live support.
• Ability to explain complex functional topics clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.

Qualifications and Other Skills:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, IT, Business Informatics or related field.
• Strong SAP Controlling and business process understanding.
• Analytical, structured and solution-oriented mindset.
• Customer-focused with strong ownership and communication skills.
• Fluent German & English; willingness to travel.

Nice to Have:

• SAP certification in SAP S/4HANA Management Accounting or a related Finance area.
• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) planning, SAP BPC, Group Reporting or embedded analytics is an advantage
• Knowledge of SAP Activate, fit-to-standard delivery and clean-core principles.
• Experience with Central Finance, Material Ledger / actual costing, Project System or Investment Management.
• Experience leading workstreams, mentoring consultants or supporting pre-sales activities.
