About the role
We’re looking for a Manager, Actuarial – PL Pricing Systems to join our amazing team!
In this role, you’ll help ensure our Personal Lines (PL) rating engine remains the primary enabler of the largest line of business across IFC—supporting profitable growth while safeguarding rating accuracy, controls, and governance, and enabling the agility the business needs to compete. This is a standout opportunity to work at the intersection of pricing, underwriting, strategy, and technology, with exposure to a broad network of stakeholders across the company and a steady pipeline of impactful initiatives.
As a manager of this high-performing team, your work will have a big impact on our Personal Lines Pricing, Corporate Underwriting, Strategic Initiatives, and Risk Control partners. People will count on you to ensure high-quality deliverables that translate pricing and underwriting intent into system-ready deployments—from rate and rule changes to new product features and strategic capabilities. You will proactively supervise activities through planning and distribution of work, foster collaborative teamwork, and guide the training and development of the team.
What you’ll do here:
- Own and strengthen the PL pricing systems delivery function—ensuring the rating engine continues to be a reliable, scalable, and business-aligned platform for our largest portfolio.
- Translate pricing, underwriting, and strategic requirements into high-quality system implementations, ensuring alignment between actuarial intent and production behavior.
- Uphold rating accuracy and governance through rigorous review, testing discipline, controls, and clear documentation—while enabling efficient, repeatable deployment cycles.
- Drive end-to-end planning and execution across multiple concurrent initiatives (pricing changes, underwriting strategy updates, regulatory needs, modernization/enablement work).
- Enhance and streamline workflows by collaborating with a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders (Pricing, Underwriting, Product, Risk Control, Technology/Delivery, Compliance, etc.).
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Manage evaluation, development, and coaching of team members to achieve strategic objectives; organize and optimize the use of team capacity in line with priorities and timelines.
- Represent the actuarial pricing systems function in working groups/committees and serve as a key point of contact across business units.
What you bring to the table:
- University degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Job-specific designation: Mathematics, Actuarial Science; FCAS an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of coaching/people leadership (major asset).
- Strong knowledge of actuarial/pricing techniques and the ability to apply them within rating system constraints and deployment practices.
- Systems mindset with a passion for quality, control, and repeatability (experience with Pega is an asset).
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and operate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strategic vision and decision making.
- Planning and organization.
- Fostering engagement and collaboration.
- Coaching, delegation, and development of others.
- Facilitating change and continuous improvement.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism (French–English) is required due to regular interaction with English-speaking colleagues across Canada.
- No Canadian work experience required; must be eligible to work in Canada.
